Why is the Gold Cup always played in the USA?
Playing the Gold Cup everytime in the States takes away from the competition and relegates it to nothing more than warm-up matches for the home team, Mexico and, occasionally, Canada.

- You make a GREAT point. I think it should be hosted by other countries too but the problem is that the other countries like Panama, El Salvador, Guatemala, etc are very small countries and I don't think their stadiums can handle a tournament such as the Gold Cup. We hope things change in the future. At least Mexico should start hosting the tournament too since they have the proper facilities and passionate fans to back it.! Go Gold Cup!!!!!! and USA!!!
- Which ones could? Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador and Costa Rica. Guatemala and Honduras both of which have bigger stadiums and cities than Costa Rica and therefore makes them more attractive in economical terms. For that matter even El Salvador would be a more suitable choice than Costa Rica. On the other hand the people in Costa Rica are currently more motivated to attend a football game(due to the recent good results by the national team and what seems to be a rebirth of the most popular club, Saprissaa) Just as a side note, I can sense that some people will come up with the "danger factor" and all that stuff which is associated with Central American venues(which is a common topic every time the USA Nat loses or has a bad time over there). There doesnt seem to be a way of making people understand that this is part of sports, specially where is it whole heartly felt. I remember reading during the NFL play offs about what a horrible experience playing at Philadelphia and Oakland could be. All the stuff which happened during the visits of the USA Nat team to Central America happened in those stadiums i.e. piss, batteries, shouting, etc. etc. I remember watching snippers during the John Rocker's games in NY. So for all those who believe this is a third world, central american problem better take a look at your own sports venues. It seems that unfortunately playing in the USA seems to be the most dangerous place right now. I think the only way of giving a Central American country the right to host a group is to obviously have the national team playing in there and a high profile team such as Brazil, because otherwise no one would care about watching Canada play Trinidad and Tobago or the likes. I still believe that Florida and California are the best places to host the Gold Cup because thats were there is less of a home field advantage for any team and where decent crowds could be assured for each and every single game.
- so no huns(could'nt afford the airfare) turn up and ruin it with their usual bile,& so we can't see any psv bosmans showing their below par talent
